Recent stories by and about mondayrowing

One thing you probably didn't know about Bill is in Wash DC for July... yes, the rest of July

One time, he [CENSORED] and then he complained about the [CENSORED]. And I was just like, “well, before you go and [CENSORED] again, just [CENSORED].” And he was like, “well, thanks for telling me that after I [CENSORED].”

Also, Bill is an absolute riot and gave me my favorite tag of “not really a rower.”

How I met mondayrowing

She was the first 43er to arrive at the Chicago meet after I had arrived. She sat on the other side of DoubleN and Segsy, so we didn’t get much of a chance to chat.

That makes her the HollyHollyOxenFree of the Chicago meet. They’re both cute, young, bubbly and I would’ve liked to have gotten more of a chance to chat with them.

A story about mondayrowing

Mondayrowing, best of luck with classes! It was a pleasure meeting you in Chicago.

A story about Paul Westerberg

Paul played at the Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul for 89.3 The Current’s Fakebook series, which featured his wife, Laurie Lindeen, and her new book, Petal Pushers. Afterward, I was walking past an alleyway next to the theater and a car came out and almost hit me. I look at the passenger seat, and there’s Paul, not noticing that I was almost hit. He’s known for not liking to be bothered so I pretended like nothing happened. As soon as I got to my car, I started screaming with excitement. It was great.

Why I want to meet Paul Westerberg

He is god. That’s all there is to it.

A story about Al Franken

I was working as a receptionist at a law firm in 2005, and one of the lawyers was in a political action group. They were holding a meeting, and lo and behold, Al Franken is a member and showed up to the meeting. I almost didn’t notice it was him—I had already directed at least 15 people downstairs, and was pretty much on robot-mode with it. I told him I was a big fan and he stopped to talk for a minute. It was seriously the best day of work ever. (Except that I didn’t get to eat any of the food they had in the meeting. That would have been nice.)

A story about Lewis Black

I got to interview Lewis for my school’s newspaper when he did a show here. Really nice guy, very quiet and calm when he’s not on stage.

A story about Craig Finn

Nicest guy ever. Too amazing for words.

A story about Chuck Klosterman

Chuck might seriously be one of the nicest semi-celebrities I’ve ever met. I’ve been to four of his book readings/signings (yeah, I know, it’s sort of stalkerish), but they’re always phenomenal.

A story about Of Montreal

When Kevin saw my friends and me after the show, he walked away from his conversation to give us hugs.
